(1880/1901)
Cumberland Presbyterians built a white frame sanctuary at Waco and Church Streets in 1880. In 1900, the frame church was sold and moved to North Davis Street where it served as the Mount Zion Baptist Church for many years. Architect George G. Orr designed the elegant new red brick sanctuary trimmed with white stone located on the southwest corner of Waco and Palo Pinto Streets. Magnificent twenty foot high stained glass windows graced two walls of the church. The congregation voted in 1927 to hold services with First Presbyterian Church on S out h M a i n. Services were split between the two churches until 1930 when all services m o v e d t o the South Main First Church.
The combined congregations became Grace First Presbyterian Church. The Grace Church property was sold in 1944. Formal union of the two churches occurred in 1962.
